Las Vegas Defense Attorney for Prostitution Charges

Prostitution / Solicitation of Prostitution

Prostitution, the exchange of sexual acts for money or other valuables, is illegal in Las Vegas and throughout Clark County. Solicitation of prostitution, the offering or agreeing to participate or engage in prostitution, is also a criminal offense. A person who is charged with prostitution or solicitation in Las Vegas may face serious penalties if convicted. Generally, these are misdemeanor offenses that may be punishable by up to 6 months in jail and fines of up to $1,000. A first time offender may be able to avoid these penalties through probation, community service, attendance of prostitution education class or other alternative sentences in lieu of jail time.

As a criminal attorney based out of Las Vegas, I am very familiar with the intricacies of a prostitution-related case. I provide aggressive criminal defense representation to clients facing prostitution and solicitation of prostitution charges in this area, working to represent their interests and protect their rights to the fullest extent of the law.

Finding Guilt in a Las Vegas Prostitution Case

In an attempt to secure a conviction for a Las Vegas prostitution case, law enforcement and prosecutors will often use circumstantial evidence. Because many transactions between alleged prostitutes and their customers are rarely videotaped, officer testimony and circumstantial evidence will be the only things the prosecutor has to prove guilt. Evidence that is circumstantial does not directly prove that a crime was committed but rather, that it may be deduced that the crime occurred because of this evidence. For example, large amounts of cash, a list of "clients", condoms and clothing that may indicate that a person is a prostitute may be considered circumstantial evidence.

In handling a case involving prostitution, I may look to this evidence and work on questioning its validity or bringing to light that it cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was guilty of prostitution or solicitation. Results will vary depending on the case, but I can use my experience as a Las Vegas criminal defense lawyer to determine how to best approach your charges.
